everything is yelling for our attention...

As women, we continually have a list of stuff to do. There are dishes to wash, laundry to fold, baths to give, appointments to schedule, rooms to clean, supper to cook, and the list just keeps growing. That's why it is so easy to say, "I just don't have time to spend with God or read my Bible." I know because I say this myself.

A while back I was reading this book...The Heart of Homeschooling. I had taken some notes and I stumbled upon this that I had written:

EVERYTHING IS YELLING FOR OUR ATTENTION,
"BUT OUR SOUL IS...QUIET."
THEREFORE WE GENERALLY PUT OFF
OUR APPOINTMENT WITH GOD.

How true is that! Our soul doesn't shout out, "I need some time with God....to soak up His Word.....to listen for His voice.....to know His direction for my life."  Our soul remains quiet.

Today, I haven't had my quiet time. Yes, I have accomplished sooo much...homeschool, making breakfast for the kids, a picnic and playtime at the park, laundry, beds made, rooms cleaned up, kids in the bed resting...but, have I sat down...sat still enough to listen? Nope, not today.

Don't be discouraged if this is you too. Simply stop yourself long enough to sit and listen for God, pray, and read His word. John 15: 4-5 says, "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.  I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."

I want to accomplish much with my time, but God's word says without Him I can do nothing!!  Let's both start fresh, whatever time it is today, and spend some time alone with God.  Let's push our lists aside and nurture our souls.
 Be blessed my friends-M

  1. I was just scrolling through some of your old posts and read this one--so good & so true! Thank you so much for encouraging me today. It’s so easy to let the noise of everything else take over and before you know it days or weeks have went by without a quality appointment with God. Thanks for your honesty.
