it's almost christmas!

 our most favorite time of the year...christmas!

there are so many traditions to do with your children at christmas. so many that it can become overwhelming. we always choose just a few though. we have fun together as a family and make memories. that's what matters.

here is one tradition we started last year after we saw it being done at our local public library in dickson...

~wrapped christmas books~

i went to our local library a few days ago and checked out a handful of their christmas books. once i got home, I wrapped up each of the books before the kids had a chance to see them.

here's the fun part...
we select one book every day to unwrap. it feels a little like christmas each time we discover a new book. after unwrapping the book, they all relax on the couch with blankets
as i read to them.

this next tradition is a new one for us this year

~the twelve days of christmas~

in each of the boxes, i have written down a fun idea for our family to do that day. each day we will just pick a box to open.

some of the ideas inside the boxes include:
*decorate the christmas tree
*drink hot chocolate and watch polar express
* go buy a present for the person's name you draw
* make christmas cookies
*christmas canvas art

what traditions are you creating with your kids this year, mommas?
i'd love to know.
