THE PURPOSE OF THE TASK IS...

I adore quotes.  They inspire me.

When I find one that speaks to me, I post it somewhere.  Just like memorizing scripture, I often memorize a great quote.  Here is one great quote to chew on-

THE PURPOSE OF THE TASK

IS TO

STRENGTHEN THE RELATIONSHIP.

Think about what it means. Going out on a date with your hubby, playing games with your kids, talking on the phone with your sister, or having coffee with a friend.  All of those things are activities that strengthen those relationships.  

But think about all those things on your to do list...laundry, homeschooling, cooking, cleaning.  These are just some of the tasks we do everyday.  While doing those activities... do they really strengthen any of our relationships?  Let's look deeper:

When I cook for my family, do I search frantically at 5:00 just to find something quick so I can check it off my to do list?  If so, then I'm probably not strengthening any relationship.  Instead, if I take time and plan ahead a healthy meal, then I am investing into the lives of those I love.  I am strengthening our relationship.  I go a bit further to strengthen it by having a great attitude while I'm cooking!

You see, sometimes I do things just so I can check them off my list.  Instead, I need to recognize the opportunities I AM GIVEN and use those to strengthen the relationships of those I love.
