what we're learning now

one of my prayers before we
ever moved from america to wales
was that we would find a local
home education group to join.

God answered our prayers.

we are blessed to be a part of a
home ed group with
some very sweet families.

our family and another family from
the group got together this past week
for a field trip to st. fagan's castle in wales.

st. fagan's castle is one of the finest elizabethan manor houses in wales.
it was built in 1580 on the ruins of
an old norman castle.

lots of families have lived in the castle throughout the years.
however, it is the story of lord windsor (father of the earl of plymouth) and his family, that is told there today.

nearly 40 staff were needed to run the castle as the windsor family spent many summer holidays there from 1885-1910.

in 1946, the castle and park were given as a gift to the nation by the owner, the earl of plymouth.

we have loved learning all there is to
know about these local castles.
